On the Road with Jessica and Chicken Little

Chicken Little and I have been on a road trip adventuring by van across America for nearly 3 years now. When I was preparing to set out on the road, I knew that we would be exploring in all climates and temperatures. Days where extreme heat or cold were occurring, were not going to be suitable to leave Chicken Little in the van for hours at a time while I hiked. I had to figure out an option that would allow me to safely carry him with me. When I started looking for pet carriers, nearly all were satchels that carried the pet on the hip. This would never work for Chicken Little and would’ve sent him flinging all over the place in his carrier. I was absolutely thrilled when I came across the Kangapooch and realized that I had found an option that would hold him securely on my chest, while keeping him still. Every time I hike, I also carry a backpack and a camera. The Kangapooch design is very comfortable and streamline. It allows me to easily wear Chicken Little on the front, while also wearing my hiking backpack. On really cold winter days, I put the Kangapooch on and then zip my coat over the carrier and Chicken Little to keep him warm. At times when I need to use both hands to climb, paddle board, or take photographs, I am able to do so hands-free and know that Chicken Little is supported. I often joke that the title of my years on the road could be appropriately named, “Keep the Tiny Chicken Alive.” His safety is always my first consideration when planning adventures and the Kangapooch has truly been instrumental in allowing me the freedom to do nearly every adventure that I have desired to do, without worrying about him being too hot or cold in the van. As you can see from the photos, he is very comfortable and often times I’ll look down to find he has fallen asleep in the carrier. I truly can’t recommend it enough for anyone who has a small animal companion that needs to be with you from time to time. We are so very thankful that the Kangapooch exists.
